How much do wedding flowers cost

How much do wedding flowers cost? In other words, how long is a piece of string?!

We all know that weddings can get really expensive and one of the first things you probably ask yourself when wedding planning is… ‘how much is this going to cost me?!’ I’m as keen as anyone to keep costs down (we were trying to get a mortgage at the same time as planning our wedding!) and with rising living costs, anywhere that you can scrimp and save is a big plus.

The average spend for a wedding in the UK, according to Bridebook’s 2024 report, is £20,775 and £25,952 including the honeymoon and engagement ring. This doesn’t mean to say you HAVE to spend that much money and there are ways to cut down the costs, but as I kept telling myself, you can’t have EVERYTHING you want and have a really cheap wedding!

Every detail has an impact on your final spend, from your choice of venue to the food, from the number of guests to your outfits, from your choice of entertainment to the favours. The list goes on! From a florist’s perspective, weddings involve a lot more planning and preparation than an everyday gift bouquet, hence why it tends to be more expensive.

It’s helpful to have a budget for each part of your wedding day to keep track of your costs. I recommend working out your essentials first, add in your priorities and then if there’s room left in the budget add in those extra finishing touches! (Here’s a FREE downloadable checklist for you to help with your planning.)

With that in mind, here’s a rough idea of how to budget for your wedding flowers...

£80-200: Bridal Bouquet and Groom’s Buttonhole. This is the super minimal option; you’re not that bothered about the flowers and just want something for the two of you.

£200-600: Should cover the bridal party flowers inc. all your bouquets and buttonholes. This really depends on how many bridesmaids/ groomsmen/ family members you have. If you have a number of bridesmaids, you could consider cheaper options like a wrist corsage, rather than a bouquet.

£600-1000: In addition to the bridal party flowers, this could include some small centrepieces or other features like pew ends, pedestals, a top table arrangement or flowers for the cake.

£1000-1500: You can afford some slightly bigger table arrangements and still include those extra details like confetti.

£1500-2500: You can afford to splash out on the bridal party, nice centrepieces and think about those finer details. You may picture having an archway too!

£2500+: There’s really no limit on how much you can spend on flowers. If you want flowers everywhere and big showy centrepieces, think at least £3K but you could spend £10K+ if the skies the limit! You’ll need a team of florists for that so be prepared to pay for their set-up time too!

MONEY SAVING TIP: Consider reusing your flowers throughout the day. For example, your top table arrangement could also be used in the ceremony to sit on the register signing table. Or you could put your bouquets in vases to dot around the venue after you’ve had your pictures. Not only will this help keep them fresher for longer, but they can be admired all day!

NOTE: If you’re comparing supplier quotes, just be careful to make sure you know what they are offering and exactly what you’re getting for the price. Some quotes may seem cheaper at first glance but they may not be offering the same level of service.
